Note from Ivyspear: This mostly applies to the F2P to Dolphin crowd (basically everyone who only gets shards from EX maps and Gumi giveaways). Otherwise, hold on to them and just use elemental shards. to clear limited content (Raids, a particularly difficult Hell stage, etc). Rainbow shards should be saved for when you need to get a unit raised immediately i.e.

Certain Genesis units (Emmel, Yna Ku, Mira, Nyx, etc.) have yet to recieve full Enlightenment so are relatively cheap despite being difficult to initially acquire. I've highlighted units whom you're not going to ever be able to Enlighten without whaling in red, though this may change if there are better banners for them in Global. Wind: Dark Artemis | King | Macherie | Zwei | Dark Nyx | Tamis | Eulalia | Ram | Yuen | Na Zhu | TanosukeĪ good rule of thumb is the later in the list they are, the more relevant they are in JP now. Thunder: Vier | Orion | Yna Ku | Nyx | Dark Othima | Cassius | Dark Julia | Zeldris | Minerva (PotK) | Celis Water: Dark Longinus | Julia | Dark Mira | Evelika | Emrys | Voda | Eins | Rem Light: Alma | Emmel | Minerva (MH) | Tiferet | Raphtalia | Millim | Ainanna | Emilia | Andex | Hercule | Zex | Biancaįire: Dark Masamune | Mira | Adaleigh | Icona | Lisanaut | Escanor | Suruba | Ugachi | Nimul in which they were introduced, if I know it:ĭark: Sol | Zheng Yi | Eliza | Merlin | Failnaught | Ikasa | Nero | Naofumi | "Shion" I’ll try to put them in the order of relevance, ie. Written by /u/Ivyspear, edited by /u/Oriks These are the units who are worth sharding at any point in the game, not only in current JP meta. While true for some units, these arguments are mostly academic, as they are using units which are already built but not attainable (Gilgamesh), or are commenting on the perceived level of challenge in the game. *Some people argue that with runes and support, a Tier 4 unit can clear certain stages easily.

Note that Tier 4 units are not inherently bad, but without a significant update such as a J+, a collab rerun, or an extremely worthwhile Memento, it is not advised to spend resources on such a unit.

These are units that are not worth using, either due to their age (old collabs), starting stats (1-2 star units), or job combination (poor interactions, bad passives). Still, they can perform well on a good team and have some upsides.

It may be a lack of jewels, or a requirement for significant manual play, or low stats. Can be used on many stages but will often encounter some problems due to their kit. Worth building, worth farming, but may not be a priority for rare things like Elemental Shards or rare Enlightenment materials. They often make up the bulk of a team, and can provide support or damage to help clear a stage. Typically worth spending Elemental Shards, shard selectors, getting their mementos, and using rare Enlightenment materials. Tier 1: Generally the best in their element.

These are likely to be very rare at the beginning, becoming slightly more abundant later on.Įnlightenment is a process through which units can surpass the former max level of 85, to unlock extra stats, improve a passive, and/or upgrade their Leader Skill. Enhancement items called “Reminiscences of a Robot” can also be used to level a Memento’s Alchemic Boundary by 5% (and later, variations will be released which give 10%). Later, weekly 3/Day quests will be released which give a featured Memento a guaranteed 1% when completed. If done, the Memento has a small chance to gain 1% of its Alchemic Boundary’s completion. It can be equipped to any unit who uses a Sword (specific weapon type used by Holy Cavaliers and similar jobs), and will be amazing on any Light unit fitting the requirements for its use.Ī Memento’s Alchemic Boundary can be leveled by completing a quest with it equipped (note that skip tickets don't work for this). Generally, it's intended for a specific unit, though outside of a few exceptions, it's usually usable on units with similar jobs even if they're not related in any way to the Memento’s main unit.įor example, Chloe's VCR (Sparkling Crystal Sword Lumiere) gives +50 Patk, +15% Light damage, and +15% damage against Dark units (along with +25% healing, though that won't be quite as useful amongst those who can equip it). It's a gear (though a few 3 star Mementos give other items instead, such as Gold Ingots or Equipment) that you get when a Memento’s "Alchemic Boundary" reaches 100%.
